Entrelac Workshop

Entrelac is exciting. The technique is easy to learn and fun to work: Many designers have patterns available for garments. You will learn to work basic Entrelac units: the initial triangles, left and right slanting units and the flat top unit. A  Neck Wrap and Hat are the vehicles to learn both Entrelac back and forth and in the round. The patterns are included as well as where to locate some of the magazine patterns. Materials- yes, homework- no.                                                     6 hours

Hairpin Lace Workshop
Hairpin Lace is a decorative braid created using a frame of 2 parallel rods and a crochet hook. This centuries old technique, also called Maltese Lace, was popularized by the Victorians who created garments as well as edgings for household items. Start with a slip knot, turn and wrap yarn around the frame and single crochet in the center. That’s how easy it is to work this frothy, versatile lace. You will first learn the technique of creating a strip; everything starts with this way. Then learn how to control the loops, how to finish the edges and the multiple ways to join them together. Knowledge of how to make a crochet chain and single stitch is recommended. However, these basic skills will be taught if you need. Scarf pattern included. Materials, yes, homework no.                                                       6 hours

Multi-Directional Knitting

Learn how to create striking multi-directional knitting based on Iris Schreier’s book, “Modular Knitting.” Iris has given permission for me to teach from her book. Multidirectional knitting is a creative approach using garter stitch and simple short rows, and the classy multi-colored hand-dyed Artyarn yarns. There is no cutting of yarn, (no tails to weave in) nor picking up stitches. The technique is easy to learn and fun to knit. Three patterns are included.
Specific materials, yes, homework, no                         6 hours

Mistakes and how to fix them
Dropped stitches? Pattern mistakes?  Doesn’t fit? Ran out of yarn? These knitting disasters and others that you bring are the dilemmas we will strategize and fix. Don’t have a disaster but want to learn the solutions? Make swatches with mistakes in them; from dropped stitches to cables twisted the wrong way. Bring your projects you want help with. No homework.                                               6 hours

Gorgeous Gloves
Gloves are stylish and keep our hands warm. These gloves are unique in that they are knit from the fingers to the cuff. Joyce Williams designed them and I have made several pairs. First we knit the fingers, then join and work the palm, then choose a cuff and embellish as we like. You choose the yarn; then make a swatch while learning to knit circularly on 2 circular knitting needles. Gloves can be knit with fine, medium, worsted or chunky yarns. This is a two-part class-3 hours each time a couple of weeks apart. No homework.  I’ll have her booklet to sell.                                             6 hours
